Greetings and salutations! I do hope everyone
had a grand Independence Day weekend. Is it not
the greatest thing how over the years we have
managed to stretch every holiday into a
multiple-day celebration? My weekend was filled
with good friends, lots of drinks and hot
weather.....Speaking of hot, Kim Sozzi:
Included on the list of accomplishments for this
Melville native are the following: took part in
several dates on the Lilith Fair in 1999; her
music can be heard on several episodes of the
hit television series Dawson's Creek as
well as the motion picture Teaching Mrs.
Tingle; and even got to sing the National
Anthem for several NBA and NHL teams, including
the Knicks and Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
And yes guys, that was Kim in the April 2002
edition of Stuff magazine, you know the
one with Kylie Minogue on the cover (not that I
have it or anything). Growing up in musical
surroundings, it's no wonder that Kim developed
the desire to perform at an early age—her
grandmother was an opera singer and her
grandfather a Latin percussion player and
bandleader. Throughout the years she has worked
with many of the top names in the business,
including the Berman Brothers (Baha Men,
Amber, Real McCoy, Hanson, The Deuce Project and
the Moffats), Jonathon Peters and
world-renowned D.J. Hex Hector to name a
few. Unless you were living on a deserted island
with no communication with the mainland, you
heard her 2001 dancehall anthem "Feelin' Me."
Most recently the Sony recording artist reached
the top of the Billboard Top 50 hot dance
music/club play charts with her hit remix of "We
Get Together" by Hector. Sozzi is currently
recording her new album in Germany. If that is
too far to travel to check her out, you can do
it locally tonight (Thursday, July 10) at The
Homestead Restaurant and Lounge (107 South St.,
Oyster Bay, 516-922-9293, www.homesteadli.com)
where you can watch an exclusive live
performance by the sexy songstress and her
five-piece band. Of course, you can always log
